After giving it some thought, I've settled on "Sugar and Spice" for my magazine's masthead. I believe it's an ideal fit, especially for a publication featuring festive sweet treats, especially during Christmas. The name immediately brings to mind the warm and delightful feelings associated with the holiday season. "Sugar" captures the sweetness of traditional Christmas goodies like cookies and candies, while "spice" adds a festive touch with aromatic flavors like cinnamon and ginger. It's a perfect combination that not only reflects the delicious content of the magazine but also conveys the joy and variety of the Christmas season.
Possible Cover-lines:
- Savor The Season
- Bake the season to be jolly
- Jingle all the way to the oven heat
- Unwrap joy with sweet delights
- This year, to save me from tears. I'll give it to someone special
- All your wish list cravings
- Unwrap the magic, savor the sweetness
- Have a holly jolly Christmas, sprinkled with the sweetness of our festive treats
- Deck the Halls with Dough and Delight
- Create Christmas good with your loved ones.
Choosing the right cover line for this section was a bit tricky since all the highlighted options seemed equally fitting. However, I've made my decision, and "Unwrap the magic, savor the sweetness" is the final pick. "Unwrap the magic" captures the holiday excitement and wonder, signaling that readers will find enchanting stories, delightful recipes, and festive inspiration within the magazine's pages. It sets the tone for a magical and sweet journey that invites readers to dive into the joy of the season. While, "Savor the sweetness" enhances the concept by highlighting the joy of relishing delicious treats. This not only showcases the delightful content but also encourages readers to fully immerse themselves in the pleasurable experience.
Images:
- Messy kitchen counter with baking tools and ingredients
- Close up shot of cookies with a side note "For: Santa" with a bright Christmas tree in the background being blurred(warm yellow lighting - a bit dimmed)
- Overhead shot of a plate of sweet goods with hands(family) reaching out to it.
- Overhead view of Cinnamon rolls (related to my double-page spread)
I've gathered ideas for the main image of the magazine's image section. However, the final decision will have to wait, as I plan to explore the details in my upcoming location scout blog post. There, I'll check how doable each idea is and figure out which ones are more achievable.
Double-Page spread:
For my double-page spread, I've decided to write about the history and culture of cinnamon rolls, while also including a recipe and instructions on how to make them. I've drawn a layout to help me visualize my double-page magazine, though this may change throughout the creation process.Self Reflection:
Throughout the creation of this blog, I've learned that deciding on a magazine title and its cover line is one of the most enjoyable yet challenging aspects of the process. In the end, I was able to finalize my decision and feel quite proud of the outcome. The double-page layout itself wasn't as difficult as in my previous blog; the double-page research and magazine research helped me visualize how my article would look. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with this blog, although I need to work on the image section as I feel it will be the most challenging part of this magazine, aside from the article itself.
